CHALKTALK ABC CLASSROOM POILICIES:

 

1. Dear student/parent I am a loving, empathetic, relaxing teacher. But just like when I taught public school, there must be some guidelines (rules) to follow. - This is a coaching program but I will refer to myself as teacher in this list to make the rules easier for the student to understand. To follow double reduction I am not teaching, I am "coaching" English skills. ; )

    

   I love all my students and parents but these are responsibilities to make a more enjoyable and productive experience:

    

   1. Student - Your parents pay a lot of money for these classes. Respect them and participate during class. Also, show respect for the coach (teacher). This demonstrates maturity.

       

   2. DO NOT participate in other work on the computer during class. I am a Masters Level teacher. I have taught over 5,000 classes online and 20 years offline. I KNOW when this is happening. I will bring it to your attention immediately.

       

   3. Come to class on time (or close to time). I will not sit for 25 minutes and wait for you. If you are more than 15 minutes late I reserve the right to cancel class. This is a VERY generous amount of time.

       

   4. If you know you are going to be late, have Mom or Dad (or you) contact me through WeChat or email me at chalktalkabc@fastmail.com. Things happen. I am a very understanding teacher/coach.

       

   5. Do your best to respond to my questions in full sentences. I am learning a language too. I know it is not easy. But try! You can do it! Yes and No answers do not help your English skills. Together we can master English so that life changing opportunities will be available to you!

       

   6. Mom and Dad, I encourage your feedback and participation! There will be a voluntary parent/teacher conference on a regular basis. Sit with your student during class when you are able. I know when you are there (remember – 5000 classes – I know). We don't want to take up valuable class time talking to each other or interrupting class, but feel free to provide your child with some support by being there during class!

       

      Remember: Mom/Dad/Son/Daughter - Succeeding in learning English will help you to achieve excellent test scores and a good chance to do well on the GaoKao! You will have an advantage over other students! These can include a better opportunity to work in international business, travel to English speaking countries, and attend prestigious Western Universities! You can do it!
